4 Appendix: Duties of committees and format of meetings

4.1 PRE-CURSILLO COMMITTEE

4.1.1 to promote Cursillo in Scotland by means of talks or articles.

4.1.2 to review, keep up to date, and distribute promotional literature.

4.1.3 to ensure cursillistas are aware of their responsibilities as sponsors.

4.2 WEEKEND COMMITTEE

4.2.1 to check and liaise with venues available to Cursillo.

4.2.2 to provide logistical support for the Lay Rector and team of each weekend - this includes providing each team member with a schedule/job description folder.

4.2.3 to be responsible for handouts - these include Pilgrim's Guides, rule of life cards, leaflets on confession and spiritual direction, participant's notebooks, booklist, Cursillo terms, name-tags, crosses and lanyards. Responsibility for this job may be given to a specific person, who shall keep a record of each item in stock, make sure an adequate number are available for each weekend, and arrange for their transport to the venue, and back into store. (These tasks may be delegated).

4.2.4 A general palanca person will work closely with the Weekend Committee to encourage, collect, record and distribute the necessary general "palanca" (written prayers, "intentions" and gifts) for Cursillo weekends, both nationally and internationally, and

4.2.5 keep a directory of contact persons, and dates of Cursillo weekends,

4.2.6 inform other Cursillo communities of future Scottish Cursillo dates, and to encourage palanca in the form of prayer vigils and church services.

4.2.7 All general palanca will he delivered to the Head Gofor just prior to each weekend.

4.3 FOURTH DAY (POST-CURSILLO) COMMITTEE

4.3.1 to promote Fourth Day activities.

4.3.2 to ensure the smooth function and operation of Ultreyas and Reunion Groups.

4.3.3 to maintain contacts within and beyond Scotland with Cursillo groups and with other interested parties.

4.4 ULTREYAS

4.4.1 The Ultreyas in the Province will be grouped into diocesan or other appropriate geographical areas. Within each group as many additional Ultreyas may he formed as necessary. Each group will elect (or select In some other way) one person to coordinate the activities of all the Ultreyas within that group. These persons (who should not serve for more than three years) shall be known as Ultreya Representatives and shall he responsible to the Secretariat through the Fourth Day Committee Representative. The Ultreya Representative will be responsible for the nurture of local Reunion Groups and for organising, or delegating the organisation of the monthly Ultreya.

4.4.2 The organisation of individual Ultreyas is the responsibility of the Ultreya itself. It must operate within the guidelines of Cursillo and should enable as many people as possible to share in leadership positions.

4.4.3 The essential structure of these meetings shall be as follows:

4.4.3.1 Group Reunion

4.4.3.2 Brief "action" talk by a lay person, demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ at work in their life, and/or within their environment

4.4.3.3 Affirming and complementary responses by two or more lay persons to this lay action talk

4.4.3.4 Response by a member of the clergy (who is also Spiritual Adviser for this Ultreya) , whose responsibility it is to relate the ideas expressed to the scriptures

4.4.3.5 Announcements - where these are necessary for good communication within the Movement

4.4.3.6 Opportunity for all attending the Ultreya to receive spiritual direction.

4.4.3.7 0ther activities, such as the provision of food, music (except where it is an integral part of the Ultreya), or on special occasions the celebration of the eucharist should be seen as strictly additional to the essential form of the Ultreya, which should occupy little more than one hour.

4.5 THE PROVINCIAL ULTREYA: ANNUAL GATHERING

4.5.1 There shall he convened, at least once a year, a meeting between the full Secretariat and all the Ultreyas in the Province, to be known an the Provincial Ultreya. It will open with a floating Group Reunion and will follow a normal Ultreya format.

Teaching may be given on various aspects of Cursillo. Reports will be given, as appropriate, detailing the position and progress of Cursillo in Scotland. Points of information may be raised for discussion, but responsibility for decision-making lies with the Secretariat.

4.5.2 Notice will be given of positions which require to be filled (either currently, or in the coming year) on Cursillo Committees or on the Secretariat Any person wishing to volunteer for these positions should inform a member of the Secretariat. Other people may be nominated, but must agree to their nomination going forward for consideration at the next meeting of the Secretariat.

4.5.3 When possible the meeting should close with a celebration of the eucharist.
